Musical Showcase Workshop with Marc Tumminelli – SOLD OUT

Students will work with Broadway Workshop director and coach Marc Tumminelli on song material in preparation for our student showcase in the second session. Each student will have the opportunity to sing one 32 bar musical cut in this class for our panel of industry professionals who are responsible for casting the Broadway productions of Dear Evan Hansen, Six, Sing Street, The Phantom of the Opera, Hadestown, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Chicago, Pippin, The Lightning Thief, The Great Comet, A Christmas Carol, Kiss Me Kate, Fun Home, Matilda, and many more.

In Session 1, students will workshop their song choices and figure out what will best showcase their unique talents as well as explore musical cuts that will work best for them, Through their class work, students will find ways to gain a deeper connection to their material and leave lasting impressions with industry professionals.

In Session 2, after a brief “showcase” rehearsal, we will be joined by a panel of four major industry professionals. Students will perform their rehearsed cuts for our industry guests and receive feedback on their work. Following our showcase our students and industry will be part of an interactive Q&A and discussion about the business, best practices for online and live auditions, and helpful resources to help our students move forward.

Benton Whitley, Casting Director/Partner @ Stewart/Whitley – Benton Whitley co-founded the Artios Award winning New York City based casting office of Stewart/Whitley in 2011 with Duncan Stewart. Since then, his team has been responsible for casting numerous Broadway productions, including: HADESTOWN (2019 Tony Award, Best Musical),THE LIGHTNING THIEF, THE GREAT COMET OF 1812, ON THE TOWN, PIPPIN, LA CAGE and CHICAGO THE MUSICAL. In addition to theatre, Whitley’s office has cast tv & film (Netflix, NBC, Lionsgate, The Disney Channel) and various indie films. His office also works on Broadway national/international tours, regional theatres, and all Broadway-branded entertainment for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. Patrick Goodwin – Patrick’s recent Broadway and TV/Film credits include TINA: THE TINA TURNER MUSICAL, THE CHER SHOW, WAITRESS, KINKY BOOTS, SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS, FINDING NEVERLAND, CHAPLIN, ANNIE, THE GREATEST SHOWMAN and SEX AND THE CITY 1 & 2. He was recently nominated for an Emmy Award for Excellence in Casting for the NBC television production of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR LIVE ON TELEVISION and has won several Artios Awards for Excellence in Casting.

Jillian Cimini – Jillian serves as the casting director for Roundabout Theatre Company and Jim Carnahan Casting.  Select credits include: Caroline or Change, A Christmas Carol, 1984, The Ferryman, Fun Home, Matilda the Musical, Kiss Me Kate, Cabaret, Kingdom Come, Brooklynite, What’s It All About?, Peter and the Starcatcher, Book of Mormon, American Idiot, Spring Awakening, Jerusalem.

Peter Van Dam, Casting director at Tara Rubin Casting. Peter has worked on hits such as DEAR EVAN HANSEN, THE BAND’S VISIT, ALADDIN, SCHOOL OF ROCK, PHANTOM, SUMMER, KING KONG, A BRONX TALE, FALSETTOS, MISS SAIGON, LES MISERABLES, JERSEY BOYS. Some other Broadway production’s Peter has work on include: TOOTSIE, HEAD OVER HEELS, and ANGELS IN AMERICA, as well as THE BEAST IN THE JUNGLE (Vineyard Theatre), CHESS (The Kennedy Center), WONDERFUL TOWN (LA Opera), and NICE FISH (A.R.T./St. Ann’s Warehouse/West End).
