Broadway Workshop

We are thrilled to welcome back Broadway and TV star – Andy Mientus for another workshop with us.  This time, Andy will be joined by Broadway director and actor – Michael Arden as well as David Guzman of Broadway’s Hamilton in this special one day musical theatre workshop.

Andy Mientus joined us last year for a Sold Out master class and we were thrilled to bring him back! Andy most recently was seen on Broadway starring in the revival of SPRING AWAKENING. His other Broadway credits include; Marius in the Broadway revival of LES MISERABLES. Andy is mostly known for his Television work as Kyle Bishop in NBC’s SMASH and as the Pied Piper in CW’s the Flash. Michael Arden was TONY nominated for his incredible work as the director of 2016 Broadway production of SPRING AWAKENING (also starring Andy Mientus) and will direct ONCE ON THIS ISLAND on Broadway next season. Michael made his Broadway Debut as Tom Sawyer in the Roundabout’s/Deaf West production of BIG RIVER, his other theatre credits include the original cast of BARE, and TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGING on Broadway. Most recently Michael returned to performing and originated the role of Quasimodo in the new musical THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME at the La Jolla Playhouse and at Papermill Playhouse. Michael’s television credits include ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy and on Numb3rs for CBS.

Mr. Mientus and Mr. Arden  will work with each student on audition technique and song interpretation in this special one day workshop. We will focus on giving actors the opportunity to bring their audition and performance skills to the next level and how to better connect to their audition material. Getting feedback from both an Actor and a Director will shape the students performance in exciting new ways. Students will break down their song material with one on one coaching in a class setting. Students will have the opportunity to be part of a Q&A with both of our guests and the Broadway Workshop team.

Students will also take part of a dance/movement workshop with David Guzman who is currently appearing in the Broadway production of HAMILTON.

Students will need 2 musical theatre audition songs in the correct key for this workshop. We will only be focusing on ONE 16/32 bar musical cut in this class. We ask that students have a second song to be used as back up. Music should be in a binder and clearly marked for our musical director. Students will also need dance clothes/shoes for this workshop.
